Gen Con UK 2008 provided the venue for the year's "offical" Kniziathon, taking place in the sweltering heat of the last weekend of August at the University of Reading in Berkshire. It was an enjoyably relaxed competition, with some 26 players playing 44 games over the day. Even Reiner was there, getting people to try out some new designs - although the tournament referee disallowed his assertion that all test games deserved a rating multiplier of 10!.

At the top end there was some very competitive play... but eventually the top three placings were:
